In 2014, Cognitive Systems set out to answer a fundamental question:

We saw something different.
We recognized that wireless signals interact with the physical world. Human movement changes radio wave propagation in measurable ways. Walls, motion, breathing, and activity all leave signatures in the wireless environment.
That insight led to the creation of Wi-Fi Motion and one of the world's first large scale Wi-Fi sensing platforms.
Today, Cognitive Systems' technology has been deployed across more than 20 million homes, integrated into over 50 Wi-Fi platforms, and supported by one of the largest Wi-Fi sensing patent portfolios in the world.
Wi-Fi Is Becoming Environment Aware
The future of Wi-Fi is no longer just about speed.
The industry is now moving toward networks that are:

This transition is already underway.
The IEEE 802.11bf standard formally introduced Wi-Fi sensing into the Wi-Fi ecosystem, allowing wireless networks to move beyond communications and begin understanding physical spaces.
At the same time, AI is transforming how wireless systems operate. Future Wi-Fi networks will increasingly optimize themselves automatically by understanding interference, congestion, device behavior, movement, and environmental conditions in real time.
In many ways, Wi-Fi is becoming the nervous system of the home.
From Wi-Fi 7 to Wi-Fi 9
Wi-Fi 7 is largely focused on performance:

- Better spectrum utilization
- Multi-link operation
But the next generations of Wi-Fi are expected to go much further.
While “Wi-Fi 9” is not yet an official standard, industry discussions increasingly point toward a future where wireless networks combine:
